Weeds on Showtime: Mondays @ 10PM
I didn’t even hear about Weeds until just before the second season started and I watched some of the first season episodes on Showtime On Demand. I haven’t missed an episode since.
The story line is intriguing and hilarious. Nancy Botwin (Mary Louise-Parker), a suburban mom, living in a gated community begins dealing pot to her neighbors after her husband dies of a heart attack. Her brother in law (Justin Kirk) moves into her house to help raise her two sons and joins in on the business. Her wacky accountant, played by Kevin Nealon of SNL fame, is another of her business partners and also a huge fan of smoking up. Conrad (Romany Malco), her supplier’s nephew and also her business partner, develops a hybrid weed plant and all of a sudden she is not only a dealer, but a grower.
Rounding out the amazing cast are Elizabeth Perkins who plays a bitchy neighbor, Tonye Patano, Hunter Parrish, and Alexander Gould (he is the voice behind Nemo by the way).
I don’t want to spoil anything in case you haven’t seen it so I won’t go into detail any further.
While some aspects of the show are hilarious it also touches on real issues that really make you think. Hopefully this show will be around for awhile. I suggest you catch up with Season 1 on Netflix.
